Levan Kokiashvili, co-founder of Gastronaut told TV–program Business Morning, that the anchor of Continental Competition of Bocuse d’Or equated Georgia with "Shashlik" (pork-chops).

"On the first day of the competition, it appeared that the world knew only “shashlik” (pork-chops) from the gastronomic potential of Georgia. However, for the second day, we changed this perception radically. World’s leading chefs in gastronomic asked us in detail about our country and products. The goal of our participation in the event is to rise Georgia’s image and promote the country”, said Levan Kokiashvili.

According to him, some of the participating countries even smiled, when Georgia was named as the homeland of wine. Georgian team broke that stereotype as well.

"It seemed ridiculous to recognize Georgia as the homeland of wine alongside Italy, France and Spain. They said that wine was associated with them. However, when Spain has used Georgian pitcher wine in their dish, we can say that Georgian wine is known on the international market. But, we cannot say the same about Georgian gastronomy. We must introduce our cuisine to the world, "- said Levan Kokiashvili.

However, Georgia was selected among the 16 best participants in the Continental Competition of Bocuse d’Or.
