Georgia Acquired 96 MLN GEL Doses Of COVID-Vaccines In 6 Months

The 2021 Budget performance Report has been published. According to it, the state spent GEL 95.7 million on the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines. The document reflects expenditures incurred in 1H2021.

"Up to 2,260,400 doses of vaccine were purchased during the reporting period, while 316.8 thousand doses (including 100.0 thousand donations) of vaccines were physically imported into the country," the report said.

The vaccination process in Georgia started on March 15, but a wide vaccination campaign started from July, when the daily number of vaccinations exceeded 20,000.

As of today, 1,405,877 doses of the vaccine have been administered in the country, of which 536,394 people are fully vaccinated and at least 869,483 citizens are vaccinated with at least one dose, which is 30% of the adult population.

According to the National Vaccination Plan, 60% of the adult population will be vaccinated by 2021. The estimated budget of the program is up to 160 million GEL.
