Georgia Earned $376 mln from international tourism in September

The National Bank of Georgia has published its tourism report for September, according to which the country received US$376 million in revenue from foreign visitors last month. This amount is by 132% more compared to the previous year.

In total, in the first 9 months of the year, Georgia received $2.5 billion from tourism, which is 190% more than in the previous year.

The Bank also calculates income from tourism in the context of specific countries. In September, Georgia received the largest amount, US$96 million, from Russian travelers, according to NBG. EU travelers spent US$45 million, Turkish citizens US$36 million, Ukraine US$32 million and Israeli citizens US$32 million in Georgia in September.

According to the National Bank, in September the Belarusians spent US$21 million in Georgia.

For information, according to the tourism strategy prepared by the Ministry of Economy, tourism revenues should amount to US$3 billion this year. By 2025, the country expects to earn US$5.2 billion from tourism.
