According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, director of the National Center for Disease Control, once the coronavirus vaccine is approved worldwide, it will become available to the population of Georgia.
According to Gamkrelidze, Georgia has already registered the application in the Global Vaccine Alliance.
"On August 31, our country made an official statement to the Global Vaccine Alliance that Georgia is interested in participating in this platform. The amount of order is enough to cover 20% of the population, equivalent of vaccine enough for 700,000 people. We have two deadlines, the contract will be signed on September 18 and the first installment will be transferred by October 8, which will guarantee that when the vaccine is approved by various regulatory organizations and the World Health Organization, it will be available to our population, especially to risk groups", - stated Gamkrelidze.
