The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava, participated in the virtual conference Post-COVID Economic Challenges and Opportunities in the Caucasus and Central Asia. The International Monetary Fund organized the event.

Minister praised Georgia’s cooperation with the International Monetary Fund. She emphasized the positive results of the program under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF). According to her, Georgia implemented significant reforms within this program.

Minister spoke about the steps taken by the Georgian Government to address the post-COVID economic challenges.

Turnava focused on the importance to support local business affected by the pandemic severely. According to Minister, strict adherence to the regulations and smooth conduct of the vaccination process would significantly improve the epidemiological situation in the country, which, in turn, would have a positive impact on tourism sector recovery.

"Despite the pandemic, as a result of the reforms carried out by the Georgian government constantly, the country is still attractive for foreign investments. Due to the reforms, Georgia's legal, business and investment environment is positively assessed by the international rating agencies, "- said Natia Turnava.
