The President of the National Bank of Georgia, Koba Gvenetadze declares that without a flawless monetary policy of the NBG, the country would not receive financial assistance from international donors during the first wave of the pandemic in 2020.

Georgia received financial assistance of about USD 2 billion from the international donor organizations in the first half of 2020. The former Georgian government signed the agreement last year.

"The correct and adequate monetary policy of the NBG is one of the most important components of the fact that the Georgian government and the economic team attracted an unprecedented amount of aid, which was spent last year to fill the budget deficit, and which will be spent this year and partly next year.

Without a flawless monetary policy of the NBG, the country would not receive the financial assistance from the international donors”, - said Koba Gvenetadze, President of the National Bank of Georgia.
