Georgia received $821 million from exports in January-March

In January-March 2021 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 2 773.2 million, 0.3 percent lower to the same period of 2020, - shows the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

According to Geostat, the exports equaled USD 820.6 million (5.2 percent higher), while the imports stood at USD 1 952.6 million (2.4 percent lower).

In January-March 2021 the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 76.7 percent. The top partners were China (USD 109.8 million), Russia (USD 109.5 million) and Azerbaijan (USD 104.6 million).

TOP-10 TRADING PARTNERS BY EXPORTS IN JANUARY-MARCH 2021

1. China - 109.7 million USD, growth - 5.2%;
2. Russia - 109.4 million USD, growth - 16.4%;
3. Azerbaijan - 104.5 million USD, decrease - 16.4%;
4. Turkey - 75.6 million USD, growth - 40.1%;
5. Ukraine - 66. 3 million USD, growth - 22.7%;
6. Bulgaria - 59.5 million USD, decrease - 28.7%;
7. Armenia - 37.4 million dollars, decrease - 18.6%;
8. US - 30.4 million USD, growth - 61.8%;
9. Spain - 19.0 million USD, growth - 13.3%;
10. Switzerland - 17.0 million USD, decrease - 19.5%.

As for the top export items, in January-March 2021 copper ores and concentrates reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling USD 158.8 million or 19.4 percent of total exports. The exports of motor cars totaled USD 86.6 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 10.5 percent. The ferroalloys exports occupied the third place standing at USD 83.7 million and constituting 10.2 percent of the total exports.

Exports of other commodities made up 300.6 million USD and the rate was up by 12%.
