EU-funded France and Czech Republic Development Agencies are launching a two-year project on the Social Code to support a sustainable, equitable and effective social security system.

"As the current social system fails to provide adequate support at all stages of human life, large-scale legislative reform will be based on sharing the experience of successful countries”, Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze declared at the presentation of the code.

According to Health Minister, reform of the Social Code aims to introduce a comprehensive and integrated approach to the social protection system, which includes the development of a regulatory framework for the social, health and insurance sectors.

“The Social Code is the achievement of European states. It was founded in Germany a few centuries ago and spread to other European countries. Georgia, as a member of the European family, also states that our main value is a citizen.

We have a strong partner in the form of the European Union, as well as France, Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Cooperation with the EU is very important on this global and important reform. The Parliament will be involved in the process,” said Ekaterine Tikaradze.

According to the Health Ministry, working on the “Social Code” will be finished in 2023.
