Georgia was Top Third Destination for Azerbaijani Travelers during Q1

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad during January-March 2021 decreased by 8,4 times compared with the same period of the prior year and amounted to 111,100 persons. Following Turkey and Russia, Georgia was the third most popular destination for Azerbaijani travelers during Q1 2021. 
 
Out of the total, 111 100 persons, 45,2 percent of the citizens of Azerbaijan traveled to Turkey, 19,7 percent to - Russian Federation, 9,2 percent – Georgia, 6,9 percent – Iran, 19,0 percent to other countries. 75,0 percent of the travelers were men and 25,0 percent were women. During this period the number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran decreased by 41,6 times, Georgia - 27,3 times, Russian Federation - 8,7 times, Turkey - 1,8 times compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, reads the recent data of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 
 
In January-March 2021, 67,5 percent of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using air transport, 25,8 percent - railway and automobile, and 6,7 percent - water transport.
 
As for the number of travelers visiting Azerbaijan, in January-March 2021 Azerbaijan received from 128 countries of the world 117 200 or 4,4 times less foreigners and stateless persons and the visits made were mainly for non-tourism purposes.

33,0 percent of the arrivals were from Russian Federation, 27,9 percent - Turkey, 16,2 percent - Iran, 10,6 percent – Georgia, 2,4 percent - Ukraine, 1,1 percent - Great Britain, 1,0 percent – Belarus, per 0,7 percent – Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, 0,6 percent – Turkmenistan, per 0,5 percent – Italy and Germany, 4,8 percent - were citizens of other countries. 93,4 percent of the arrivals were men and 6,6 percent were women. 

In January-March of the current year compared with the corresponding period of the previous year the number of arrivals from Georgia decreased by 11,9 times, Turkmenistan - 8,9 times, Kazakhstan – 7,7 times, Uzbekistan – 5,2 times, Russian Federation – 4,1 times, Ukraine – 3,7 times, Great Britain – 3,6 times, Belarus – 2,1 times, Turkey – 1,9 times, Iran – 1,6 times.

In general, the number of arrivals from Gulf countries decreased by 3,5 times and amounted to 19,4 thousand persons, from the CIS countries it decreased by 4,2 times and amounted to 45,6 thousand persons and from EU member countries it decreased by 3,5 times and amounted to 4,3 thousand persons compared with January-March 2020.

70,9 percent of foreigners and stateless persons who came to Azerbaijan used railway and automobile, 25,8 percent - air and 3,3 percent - water transport.
