Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava met with Oleg Nemchinov, Minister of Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Aleksandr Tkachenko.

The meeting highlighted the close friendly relations and strategic partnership between Ukraine and Georgia.

The parties have noted that one of the main drivers of the dynamic development of bilateral relations between Georgia and Ukraine is the existing economic cooperation between the countries.

The meeting focused on the growth of trade relations between two countries, attraction of Ukrainian investments, deepening of cooperation in the fields of tourism, energy, ferry and rail traffic, aviation and land traffic.

As Natia Turnava has noted after the meeting, the next sitting of the Georgian-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission will be held in Tbilisi in September, which postponed due to a pandemic last year.

"This year we have all the preconditions to hold this commission. Many important issues have been accumulated. First of all, it is the growing export from Georgia to Ukraine, generally the growing trade. We have the opportunity to further increase exports, especially in the field of agricultural and industrial products. We also talked about how to encourage ferry traffic between two countries through the Black Sea ports. It is very important for us to have as much logistical connection as possible in this corridor. Ukrainians are our traditional partners and we need to increase the frequency of traffic and cooperation in the field of tourism in order to attract more Ukrainian tourists and more Ukrainian investors to Georgia. We have very interesting plans for the future," said Natia Turnava.

According to the first four months of 2021, Ukraine is one of the largest trade partners of Georgia. Trade turnover was $ 218.85 million during this period, which is 25% more compared to the same period of the last year.

The meeting took place within the framework of the official visit of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal to Georgia.
