Georgian economy will grow by 8.5% this year, - Eva Bochorishvili, Head of Research at Galt & Taggart declares and notes, that current economic growth is due to the economic recovery of all sectors.

“In recent months, we are making adjustments in the direction of economic growth. We increased the baseline scenario to 7% in June, now we are thinking to adjust it afresh and publish a new one.

When we say that economy will grow by 8.5%, we mean the risks that come with coronavirus. In particular, the measures may be tightened, which will have an unfavorable impact on economic growth, but we also have an optimistic forecast and the risks that we consider in the baseline scenario, if not implemented, we expect double-digit economic growth at 20.5% by 2021. Speaking of the 2022 forecast, we say that economic growth will still remain above 5%.

Now, in the post-pandemic period, economic growth is inertia of accumulated demand, and in 2022, the economy will grow by 5%," Bochorishvili said.
