According to the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Georgian wine was exported to Qatar for the first time. As the Ministry notes, wine exports were made as a result of joint works carried out by the Embassy of Georgia in Qatar and the Qatar Distribution Company.
"Since May 27, 12 different Georgian wines have been placed in the chain of the Qatar Distribution Company. Georgian wine will soon be available in five-star hotels in Doha and in areas allowed for alcohol.
The Georgian wine tasting was held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha with the assistance of the Embassy of Georgia in Qatar in order to promote and raise awareness of Georgian wine. The event was attended by ambassadors from various countries accredited to Qatar, as well as representatives of the HORECA sector and local businesses, "- said in a statement.
According to the Ministry, exports of Georgian wine to Qatar are especially important, as Qatar is the host of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, during which the country will be visited by millions of visitors from different countries.
