Geostat: FDI increased with 13.7% in Q3 of 2019

According to National Statistics Office of Georgia, Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in Georgia amounted to 417.3 million USD in Q3 2019, up 13.7 percent from the adjusted data of Q3 2018.

Total investment in Georgia totaled 908.9 million USD in 9 months of 2019, which is 17% less than in 2018. The decline is mainly due to the reduction of FDI in the first and second quarters of the year.

According to Geostat, more than half of the total investment comes from the reinvestment of existing companies, amounting to 258.8 million USD.

The top three countries that invested the most in Georgia in Q3 of 2019 were:
Great Britain – 78.4 million USD
Netherlands – 68.3 million USD
Turkey – 43 million USD

It should be noted, that FDI by major economic sectors was the following:
Financial Sector – 96.0 million USD, 23.0% of the total FDI
Manufacturing Industry – 49.3 million USD
The hotels and restaurants – 45.7 million USD.
