Giorgi Gakharia: IMF reiterates Georgia’s economic achievements, notably the Government’s concrete business-support plan in response to the economic crisis
Yesterday, the International Monetary Fund held its 7th regular meeting to review stage 7 of Georgia’s economic program, reiterating Georgia’s economic achievements, notably the Government’s concrete business-support plan in response to the economic crisis, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated during today’s Cabinet meeting.
According to the Head of Government, the IMF forecasts Georgia’s 4.3% economic growth in 2021, though also emphasizing the need to continue structural reforms and pay special attention to the discipline of implementing macroeconomic indicators.
“It concerns all of us, because it takes into account both expenditure and revenue aspects. We must be exceptionally prudent and reasonable throughout 2021. This is the rapid post-crisis economic recovery potential that we must preserve for our country’s economy and every citizen. Let me remind you that Georgia is the first country to have coordinated with the IMF and approved an economic crisis plan under the pandemic, this way enabling us to receive fast assistance from donor organizations.” The Prime Minister stated.
