Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) announced a few weeks ago, that COVID-regulations will be enacted, so the winter resorts will not be closed down, - Erekle Kokaia, Executive Director of Inn Group says.

According to him, representatives of the tourism sector do not know when the season is launched on the resorts, but they do not expect a delay.

"We do not have official information about the opening of the season yet. As a rule, the opening of winter resorts depends on the weather. If the snow comes earlier, hopefully both the season and the ropeways will open earlier. The last communication from the tourism administration took place about a few weeks ago and we were informed that there will be some regulations regarding winter resorts. It was a sign to us that winter resorts would not be closed," Kokaia said.

The director of Inn Group declares that despite the deteriorated epidemiological situation in Georgia, bookings are not canceled. According to him, the visitors have reservations for late December, but not in the same amount as before.

“Until now, we received reservations much earlier. Almost a year ago we knew what kind of busy season we should have. Due to the pandemic, the approach has changed and the amount of bookings increases as we come close to the season. International visitors, as well as local tourists, no longer take a risk to book a hotel a few months in advance”, - said the director of Inn Group.

He explained that prices are relatively reduced, but a radical decline has not come out due to the expenditures.

"There are reservations from the Baltic states, Israel, but it all depends on the frequency of flights and the epidemiological situation in the country. At this stage, the workload is about 30-40%, which is low compared to 2019, this figure will change when the season comes”, - said Kokaia.
