Government Administration and Embassy of Czech Republic Jointly Organize a Topical Coordination Meeting on Social Welfare

Staff of the Government Administration of Georgia and Embassy of Czech Republic collaborated and organized a Topical Coordination Workgroup Meeting on Social Welfare in the format of a video conference today. Discussions were held on the state priorities and matching  donor support for the effective development of the social security sector. Namely, social needs were identified and solutions were found through the engagement of respective donors. Special focus was made during the meeting on the advancement of healthcare and social security system, which is particularly important against the pandemic background. In the opinion of the Government Administration officials, such type of dialogue is vital for planning the future support to be solicited by the country.
 
Meeting engaging Giorgi Sakhokia, Deputy Head of Government Administration; Salome Gagua, Chief of Staff at the Office of the Prime Minister of Georgia and Ana Kvernadze, Head of Policy Planning and Coordination Department presented updated coordination mechanisms of donor support in the country, which are aimed at the management of external aid with greater effectiveness and efficiency.

Meeting was co-chaired by Tamar Gabunia, First Deputy Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Security of Georgia; Jan Chernik, Head of Development Coordination at the Embassy of Czech Republic. Meeting engaged almost 40 representatives of donor countries and agencies.
 
The Government Administration of Georgia annually holds 6 topical coordination meetings, which are based on the classifications developed by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD): democratic governance, economic growth, human capital development, social welfare, sustainable use of natural resources, rule of law and justice.
