Government to spend 1.14 billion GEL on anti-crisis measures from 2021 budget

The final version of the draft budget for 2021 has been submitted to the Parliament of Georgia. It should be noted that the final version of the draft budget also includes expenditures related to the pandemic.

However, a total of GEL 1,420.0 million is provided to finance the anti-crisis measures, including GEL 280 million in 2020 and GEL 1,140 million in 2021.

According to the Ministry of Finance, GEL 450 million is provided to finance healthcare expenditures, including GEL 400 million for the allocations of the Ministry of Health, while GEL 50 million for the allocations of the Ministry of Economy.

The amount allocated to the Ministry of Health includes the costs of patients’ treatment, as well as expenditures related to the tests and purchase of the vaccine.

"540 million GEL is provided for social support of citizens, including up to 230 million GEL will be directed for subsidizing utility bills and one-time compensation of 300 GEL in 2020 and up to 310 million GEL will be spent in 2021”, the statement reads.
