The government of Georgia took the decision to resume flights from February 1, but restrictions still remained in several industries. Public transport does not work, mountain resorts and major hotels remain closed.

The government of Georgia did not take into notice the Five-Point Recovery Plan For Tourism and left the existing restrictions in force again.

According to the private sector, the government takes inconsistent steps.

Saba Kiknadze, the founder of Caucasus Travel, says that flight resumption is a good decision, but it will not give quick results. To him, failing winter season is absolutely incomprehensible. In addition, he has the impression that the government does not have the possibility to make consistent decisions.

Saba Kiknadze cites the example of Batumi, as last summer the government failed to control the situation in Adjara and they completely closed the country in winter.

The founder of Caucasus Travel notes, that the government itself must give examples.

According to him, in the summer the police and owners of restaurants and hotels were without face masks in Batumi.

"I have the impression that epidemiologists are strongly demanding what they want, while the government fulfils their demands with restrictions instead of work. They could limit the passenger number at the transport or introduce a cap on tourist number at the hotels," said Kiknadze.

According to him, tourism season is lost until May, while orders for June-July-August still remains unknown.

The head of the travel company believes that the government should take firm steps, but they are even unable to control the wearing of face masks.

"The government could not comply with its own restrictions. Do you remember what happened during the first restrictions? Restrictions were imposed on restaurants and hotels, some of them were violating rules but no one checked them,” Kiknadze notes.

According to him, any business is a conscious party and they prove it during the opening for Christmas.
"It is just easier for the government to close everything completely," Kapanadze said.
