By the order of the Minister, the hospitals have suspended planned services, - said Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC).

According to him, the Minister took the decision to increase bed fund at the hospitals for the patients infected with COVID-19.

"As for the number of beds, today there are slightly more than 5,000 people in hospitals, so far the health care system can handle this pressure. We mobilized 7,500-8,000 beds in the fall, so the health system has the resources so far. There are tensions over the calling ambulances, especially in Tbilisi, but new beds are added to different clinics every day.

Yesterday, by the order of the Minister, hospitals stopped the so-called palnned services and they move to emergency work only. Therefore, the bed fund will be increased even more, ”said Amiran Gamkrelidze.

According to him, at this stage the interagency council will not consider a strict lockdown, it will consider the strict implementation of the recommendations that are imposed today.
