As of the end of November 2022, the banking sector in Georgia is represented by 14 commercial banks, including 13 - foreign-controlled banks, - according to the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

In November 2022, compared to the previous month, the total assets of Georgian commercial banks (in current prices) increased by GEL 277.5 million (or by 0.4 percent) and constituted GEL 67.5 billion (exchange rate effect excluded above mentioned indicator increased by 1.2 percent).

The banking sector's equity capital equals GEL 9.1 billion, which makes up 13.4% of the commercial banks total assets.

As for loans, the volume of loans issued by commercial banks (excluding interbank loans) in November 2022 increased by 411.81 million GEL or by 0.95% compared to the previous month (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 1.15%) and constituted 43.65 billion GEL by December 1, 2022. The volume of loans in national currency increased by 199.56 million GEL (0.84%) and the volume of loans in foreign currency increased by 212.25 million GEL or by 1.10% in the same period (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 1.54%).

As for the total volume of non-bank deposits in the country′ s banking sector increased by 0.72% or by 303.37 million GEL (exchange rate effect excluded volume of deposits increased by 1.53%), compared to November 1, 2022 and constituted 42.62 billion GEL by December 1, 2022. In November, the volume of term deposits decreased by 99.13 million GEL (by 0.61%; exchange rate effect excluded volume of term deposits increased by 0.22%). Demand deposits increased by 402.51 million GEL (by 1.55%; exchange rate effect excluded volume of demand deposits increased 2.34%).
