The application, submitted by Georgian government, is available for iOS users through the App Store by the name of STOP COVID, while users of Android can download it from Google Play by the name of NOVID20.

According to the analytical portal of the National Communications’ Commission, the number of mobile phones in Georgia exceeds 5 million. As for the number of Android and iOS smartphones, according to GNCC statistics, the number of Apple smartphones in the country is 725,749, while the number of mobile phones running the Android system exceeds 2.8 million. Including, 1,928,389 are Samsung mobile phones; Huawei -517,675; Lenovo - 517,671.

To discover which smartphones have been in contact with each other, the system uses technologies including Bluethooth, GPS. The application will log interactions that span more than 15 minutes and take place within two meters.

If an individual tests positive, they can inform the application, and can provide information pertaining to contacts in the last five days to the Health Ministry.

If a person tests positive for COVID-19, all other users which have been in contact with him in the last five days will be notified by applications in order to isolate themselves or go to the hospital.

The application was created by an Austrian company.

The model of this application has been used in Japan, South Korea and Singapore.
