19,348 A category taxi permits and 7,798 category B taxi permits were issued in Tbilisi within the second stage of the taxi reform. At the first stage of the reform, which began in 2018, 21,000 uncategorized taxi permits were issued.

The second stage of taxi reform was implemented in 2019, when the regulation on the restriction of right-hand drive and different colored vehicles came into force, taxis were divided into two categories - A and B.

A uniform standard was defined for category A taxis - white color and luminous signs with the inscription "TAXI Tbilisi".

The third stage of taxi reform was presented by Tbilisi Mayor and his deputy Irakli Khmaladze on Wednesday. The third stage of taxi reform will take effect on April 1, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated at a municipal government meeting, promising to present details of the project to society and all interested stakeholders on February 2.
