Lasha Shalamberidze, Head of the Rural Relations Department of the Rural Development Agency declares that as of today, more than 19 thousand tons of non-standard apples are processed.

The fact is that the government is subsidizing non-standard apples this year as well. The decision was made in July and the program budget was set at GEL 3 million.

“In total, farmers received about GEL 4.5 million in income. Of this, the state subsidy was about GEL 1.9 million. The price of one kg of apples should be 0.22 tetri and only in this case, the state pays a subsidy to the company,” Lasha Shalamberidze said.

According to him, enterprises started to receive non-standard apple in September and will continue until December 15. At this stage, up to 14 companies receive non-standard apples.
