According to the Minister of Finance Ivane Machavariani, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has positively assessed the government's expenditures in the 2020 budget during the pandemic. He said this at a briefing at the government administration.

The Minister of Finance explained what the government has spent from the 2020 budget:

"The IMF has reaffirmed in its review that the measures we took during the 2020 pandemic will be around 1.15 billion GEL in social assistance, around 375 million GEL in healthcare and up to 1.5 billion GEL in business support in total. Yes, these packages were very rational in terms of purpose and, therefore, received a positive assessment," - said Ivane Machavariani.

According to him, the IMF slightly reduced the country's economic growth forecast in 2021 from 5.0% to 4.3%, which is due to the pandemic situation.
