A total of 20,694 international students studied in Georgia this year, while the figure stood at 16,988 last year. Of these, 14,907 international students were studying in private universities, and 5,787 - in state universities. BMG requested the mentioned statistics from the Ministry of Education and Science.
From the requested statistical data, annual fees for each student in private and state universities vary from GEL 1500 to GEL 38 805. The annual fee for foreign students at St. Tamar King University of the Patriarchate of Georgia and Batumi Art Education University has been GEL 1,500 this year, while students from France have to pay GEL 38,805 at Tbilisi State Medical University.
In addition, the largest number of students come to study in Georgia from the following countries:
