How Much Loans Did Commercial Banks Issue?

The volume of loans issued by commercial banks (excluding interbank loans) in September 2022 decreased by 275.52 million GEL or by 0.64% compared to the previous month (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 1.08%) and constituted 42.94 billion GEL by October 1, 2022. The volume of loans in national currency increased by 384.81 million GEL (1.67%) and the volume of loans in foreign currency decreased by 660.33 million GEL or by 3.28% in the same period (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.42%).

By the end of September 2022, the total volume of national currency denominated loans to resident legal entities issued by commercial banks amounted to 7.07 billion GEL (2.81% more compared to the previous month), and foreign currency denominated loans constituted 12.10 billion GEL (3.51% less; exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending in foreign currency increased by 0.19%).

During September 2022, the volume of lending to resident household sector increased by 0.07% or 16.64 million GEL, and constituted 22.97 billion GEL by October 1, 2022.

Larization ratio for total loans constituted 54.68 percent by October 1, 2022 and increased by 1.24 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.31 percentage point), compared to September 1, 2022.
