How Much Wheat Did Georgia Export In The Last 5 Years?

The Government of Georgia will ban wheat and barley exports from Georgia for one year against the global food security risks in the world. Otar Shamugia, Minister of Agriculture released the relevant statement today.

BM.GE got interested in how much wheat was exported from the country in the past years. According to official statistics, wheat and muslin were not exported from Georgia in the first 5 months of this year. In the last 5 years, the largest amount of wheat was exported in 2018.

Product Exports By Years:

2021 – USD 393 thousand, 1 557 tons;
2020 – USD 12.7 thousand, 23 tons;
2019 - USD 877 thousand, 3,286 tons;
2018 - USD 2.1 million, 10,058 tons;
2017 - USD 1.3 million, 5,991 tons;

The largest volume of the wheat worth USD 3,5 million was re-exported from Georgia in 2017, when its volume amounted to 15 068 tons.

The list of export markets for 2021 is as follows:

1. Armenia – USD 365 thousand, 1 468 tons;
2. Turkey - USD 16 thousand, 49 tons;
3. Ukraine – USD 10 thousand, 40 tons;

Azerbaijan was also included in the list of countries in the different years.
