One person consumes an average of 127 kilograms of wheat flour (bread and other products that contain flour) per year in Georgia, - according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

As of the report, Georgia produces about 136 thousand tons of wheat annually, but local production does not meet the demand, so the country imports 482 thousand tons of wheat annually.

According to Geostat, the average consumption per capita is 127 kg of flour products, which means 349 grams of flour products per day.

The document reads, most wheat is grown in Kakheti region of Georgia, where 100 thousand tons of wheat has been harvested in 2021, followed by Kvemo Kartli with 14 thousand tons and Shida Kartli with 10.4 thousand tons.

According to Geostat, wheat production is growing in Georgia:

In 2018 - 107 thousand tons;
In 2019 - 101 thousand tons;
In 2020 - 102 thousand tons;
In 2021 - 136 thousand tons.
