Levan Mebonia, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Enguri HPP declares, that the distribution of electricity generated by Enguri HPP between occupied Abkhazia and other regions of Georgia will return to the proportion provided by verbal agreement until the end of the year. According to the agreement, no more than 40% of the generated electricity will be consumed by Abkhazia.

"Abkhazians are waiting for imports from Russia and this will reduce the load on the Enguri HPP. They are also imposing restrictions and reducing consumption a bit. Late this year, as of the agreement, electricity distribution will be 60/40. This proportion will be kept at the expense of increased output”, - Mebonia told BMG, adding that even if imports were not carried out, it would be possible to maintain the above-mentioned proportion within a small margin of error.

According to the electricity market operator, from January to October 2021, occupied Abkhazia consumed 2 billion 371.9 million kWh of electricity, which is 19.5% more than in the same period last year.
