I want to become a member of the NBG board at a time of full of challenges, - Natia Turnava, the former Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated about it today. The President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili nominated Natela Turnava for the position of a Member of the Board of the National Bank of Georgia.

Prior to the meeting of the Committee on Sectoral Economics and Economic Policy, she spoke about the challenges faced by the NBG due to the hard conditions worldwide and considered the ways how to solve them.

“It is a great honor, challenge and career development for me to be able to join the team of highly professional people of our country as a member of the board, if the Parliament supports me. I am grateful to Salome Zourabichvili for the trust she has expressed in me.

I think today is a difficult period for the world and the region, so our economic policy and the National Bank face new challenges. My experience and detailed knowledge of economic policy, the projects that we have managed to implement together with the economic team, all this will allow me to make a positive contribution to the activities of the National Bank. The biggest challenge we see, and the National Bank agrees, is inflation, which has plagued all developed countries. Our tightened, adequate monetary policy is what responds to inflation, and therefore in the light of the gradual recovery of the economy, we are confident that we will gradually overcome this challenge as well. At a time full of these challenges, I want to become a member of the NBG and make my contribution and benefits to the country”, - Turnava said.
