Ice Cream Imports Almost Tripled in Georgia

During January-April of 2021, Georgia imported 176.61 tonnes of ice cream, worth US$ 797, 600. The value is almost threefold as compared to the same period of the prior year. This year’s figures also exceeded the volume of pre-pandemic 2019. With US$ 314, 360 Turkey is the main supplier of ice cream to Georgia. 

Georgia imported ice cream from eight different countries during this year. Import reached 176.61 tonnes, worth US$ 797, 600. During the same period of the prior year number of exporters amounted to five countries. The volume was 82.49 tonnes, worth US$ 283, 450. 
 
During Jan-April 2021, with US$ 314, 360 or 49.84 tonnes Turkey was the main ice cream exporter to Georgia. It was followed by Russia – US$ 252, 940 or 54.22 tonnes; France – US$ 117, 940 or 34. 05 tonnes; Ukraine – US$ 50, 510 or 17.13 tonnes; Armenia – US$ 23, 690 or 13.14 tonnes; Germany – US$ 17, 500 or 3.52 tonnes; Italy – US$ 11, 290 or 2.00 tonnes and Belarus – US$ 9, 430 or 2.71 tonnes. 
 
As for Jan-April 2019, ice cream imports from nine countries amounted to 163.79 tonnes, US$ 763, 050. With US$ 266, 470 Turkey was the main supplier, followed by Russia - US$ 142, 790 and Romania – US$ 141, 410. 

According to Worlds Top Exporters, the list of countries that export the highest dollar value worth of ice cream incorporated: France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and United States.
