The founder of "Silk Road Group" requests the amendment of the "Telecommunications Infrastructure Sharing" bill. As Giorgi Ramishvili said at the session of the Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy Committee, "Silknet" has to work in discriminatory conditions compared to the competing company. Ramishvili cites the decision of the Tbilisi City Hall in 2012, according to which "Deltacom" was granted full access to the city poles.
The fact is that in 2016 "Magticom" became the owner of 100% share of "Deltacom".
"As you know, the draft law is now being discussed, which refers to access to passive infrastructure. This is a very big problem for us. I want to draw the public's attention once again. In April 2012, the Tbilisi City Hall granted company "Deltacom" full access to the city poles. I don't know what to call such a program, no tender was announced. Then it happened that our competitor bought this company and has a monopoly on City Hall poles", Giorgi Ramishvili said.
He asked the parliament to approve the bill which would completely eliminate a monopoly on the market.
"We now have a court dispute with the City Hall. Also, we are actively talking about this issue. If you want 5G to be done, which is technological progress, it will not be possible in such a situation. We no longer have the means to hang our devices. Therefore, it is discrimination. Our competitor will gain even more advantage, we will get a very large profit, and it is impossible for us to compete with him. We and Beeline will no longer have a chance to be competitive. Now there is a chance for the parliament to adopt a law which will completely eliminate the monopoly on the market," Giorgi Ramishvili said.
