Geostat reports, that export of 6 commodities out of Georgia's TOP-10 export goods has decreased. Among them are mineral and fresh waters, which showed a 21% decrease in the first 8 months of this year compared to the previous year.
The big players on the market have negative expectations for the end of the year. They note with BM.GE, that pandemic, devalued GEL, and reduced consumers' purchasing power - are the problems that reduce sector's export and hinder development of the local market.
One of the largest holding companies in the country, Tskali Margebeli, which combines Nabeghlavi, Bakhmaro and Geo Natura, says that the crisis in the global economy is having a major impact on their export market and affect international sales.
"The economic situation is very hard in many countries, where we export our products. It has reduced Nabeghlavi exports. We have a decrease of about 20% compared to the previous year. We think that by the end of the year this figure may reach 30%," said Tinatin Makharadze.
"Aqua Geo", which combines the brands of "Sno" and "Kobi", also talks about the reduced sales and exports on the domestic market.
"I want to tell you that we have an average decline of about 25% on the domestic market. We have the same condition in terms of export. The problem is not merely pandemic, but devalued national currency as well, which affects the sales”, said Zurab Gozalishvili.
According to the General Director of "Aqua Geo", if volatility of national currency continues, it will affect imported materials, which will increase the price of products.
According to him, the matter concerns to bottles, caps, which are also imported and fluctuation of national currency affects the price.
