Remittances Inflow to Georgia Around 1% Up in 2020, 18% Down from Russia

Remittances inflow to Georgia during 2020 amounted to US$ 1,885,981,900, up from US$ 1,733,317, 700, or 0.9% from the previous year. Russia still remains the largest country by the volume of remittances, although this year the figure drop by 18% as compared to the prior year.
 
According to the recent data of the National Bank of Georgia, with US$ 363, 915, 000 the largest volume of remittances during 2020 has been received from Russia. It was followed by Italy – US$ 297, 614, 800, Greece – US$ 219, 140, 600, the USA – US$ 218, 360, 000, Israel – US$ 156, 806, 900, and Turkey – US$ 106, 736, 900. 
 
As for 2019, US$ 428, 886, 600 has been received from Russia, US$ 239, 173, 300 – Italy, US$ 192, 545, 100 – Greece, US$ 178, 411, 700 – the USA, US$ 162, 548, 000 – Israel, and US$ 94, 846, 100 from Turkey. 
 
Next to Russia, out of the top six countries, this year the volume has been slightly 0.4% reduced from Israel.
