Imports of oil bitumen have declined due to restrictions related to COVID-19

According to the Union of Oil Importers, the import of oil bitumen in Georgia amounted to 6.5 thousand tons in March 2020, which is 1.9 thousand tons or 41.3% more comparing to February and 1.4 thousand tons or 17.7% less if compared to the same period of the last year.

Including, 80% (5.2 thousand tons) was imported from the Republic of Azerbaijan, 15.4% (1.0 thousand tons) from Iraq, and 4.6% (0.3 thousand tons) from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In January-March of this year, oil bitumen imports amounted to 14.3 thousand tons, which is 4.9 thousand tons or 25.5% less than the same period of the last year (19.2 thousand tons). At that, 49.6% of imports (7.1 thousand tons) come from the Islamic Republic of Iran. Then come: Azerbaijan - 42.0% (6 thousand tons), Iraq - 7% (1, 0 thousand tons), the United Arab Emirates - 1.4% (0.2 thousand tons). The decline in oil bitumen imports is directly related to the restrictions imposed by COVID-19. In particular, because of this, the Islamic Republic of Iran can no longer import products into the country.
