The draft budget for 2022 has been published, according to which the Georgian government plans to spend 500 million GEL on COVID-19 patient management next year.

Compared to the current year, the cost of treatment for COVID-19 patients is 310 million GEL less, which is due to the reduced prognosis of the virus by the government. In addition to patient management, GEL 50 million is provided in the budget for the immunization program.

The total cost of healthcare programs is estimated at 1.73 billion GEL, which is 277 million GEL less than in 2020. The main reason for the decrease is the reduction of the COVID-19 management budget.

In order to meet the government's forecast for reduced morbidity, it is necessary to vaccinate the population according to plan and vaccinate 60% of the adult population this year. However, since the second half of September, the number of new vaccinations in the country has dropped dramatically. To date, 989,294 people have been vaccinated against the COVID-19. Among them, 828,964 people have been vaccinated against the virus twice.
