Heads of clinics are forced to optimize the staff, Alexander Aladashvili, head of the Department of Interventional Medicine and Diagnostics at the Chapidze Heart Center told BM.GE.

According to him, everyone is affected.

"The rates (implying equalization rates for clinics involved in universal health care programs under Government Resolution 520) are unrealistically low. Clinic managers are forced to optimize, reduce staff, and I know that in many clinics, salaries have been cut by 20% -30%”, Aladashviil said.

According to him, the primary consequence of the adoption of Resolution 520 is that tariffs have been reduced and the entire medical sector is dissatisfied, and quality will not improve.

As for the work of the General Health Council set up on the abovementioned resolution, Aladashvili explains that, so far there is no concrete result.

"There were meetings, things were planned, but nothing concrete. Plans were to come up with standards. The main thing is that before you calculate the tariff, you have to create a standard, a procedure, how the surgery is done, what materials are needed, how many medications are needed, and then they should be evaluated, "- says Aladashviil.
