According to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava, Georgia is one of the most prepared countries in the region to negotiate a free trade agreement with the United States.

"Georgia is the country in our region that is most willing to start direct free trade negotiations with the United States, our strategic partner," she said.

Speaking about the future priorities of the Ministry, Natia Turnava also said that in 2022 efforts will be intensified to expand free trade regimes, including the continuation of active consultations at the political and expert level for the possible conclusion of a free trade agreement with the US.

"I am very pleased with the spirit of bipartisan support that was reflected in a letter from US Congressmen published just a few days ago, in which they addressed the US Trade Representative and called for the start of direct free trade talks with Georgia. This is a very promising message, "Turnava said.
