Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Kutsishvili predicts that inflation will go down for the next months. The point is that inflation of 7.2% was observed in April y-o-y. The National Bank of Georgia tightened the refinancing rate to 9.5% a few days ago due to the increased inflation.

The journalist asked the Finance Minister why the NBG did not use other tools besides the tightening of refinancing rate, as it raised interest rates on loans to the citizens.

“The National Bank has made it clear why it has increased its refinancing rate. The National Bank is using other instruments besides this one. The NBG has considered this measure to be the most effective at this stage in order to slow down the inflation rate. I think that inflation will go down for the coming months," Lasha Khutsishvili said.
