The Inter-Agency Coordination Council has decided to open the land borders of the country from June 1, 2021 in the same manner as for passengers of air transport. Namely, individuals will be admitted through the land borders of the country with evidence of full vaccination and negative PCR test results or alternatively only with a negative PCR test result taken within the last 72 hours thereby obliged to get re-tested for PCR on the third day. This decision was taken by the Inter-Agency Coordination Council at its meeting led by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia at the Government Administration today.

In addition, a list of nationalities - both citizens and residents - admitted to Georgia with a negative PCR test taken within the last 72 hours has been extended to cover Canada, Japan, Kuwait, China, South Korea, Moldova and Oman.

Visitors of Georgia are required to have a health insurance acquired in their countries of residence or in Georgia.

The Inter-Agency Coordination Council has also decided to fully remove the current restriction on eateries on week-ends from June 1, if the stable trend of epidemic situation is maintained. It means that restaurants and cafes will be permitted to admit customers indoors on weekends as well.

It was highlighted at the meeting that current restriction on social events remains valid and thus wedding parties, repasts, receptions or various other anniversaries or jubilees are still banned in the country.

The Inter-Agency Coordination Council remains vigilant and consistent in terms of easing the COVID restrictions to facilitate economic recovery on the one hand and to prevent a sharp deterioration of the epidemic situation on the other hand.

Inter-Agency Coordination Council once again urges citizens of the country to adhere to the current regulations: uniform wearing of face masks and social distancing. Such behavior is deemed to be the most important measure for the prevention of viral spread, along with the vaccination.

Since the first detection, 339 315 lab-proven cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the country, out of which 320 777 individuals have recovered and 4 654 - died.

Currently, 91 individuals remain in quarantine, 673 - at clinical hotels and 4 094 - at healthcare facilities under medical supervision.

Inter-Agency Coordination Council led by the Prime Minister of Georgia actively engages the Parliament of Georgia chaired by MP Kakha Kuchava and Administration of the President of Georgia.
