Investigation Service Initiated Criminal Prosecution Against Six Persons
As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, on the fact of misappropriation of large amount of state property by deceit by manufacturing and using forged documents and official fraud, initiated criminal prosecution against six persons, one of which is a former official.
Investigation determined that the accused persons, in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, during 2021, using forged documents, with the help of the representative of one of the municipalities, fraudulently registered 2 256 m2 of two land plots, having value of GEL 309 576.
The accused also submitted forged documents to the Public Registry in order to register 5 land plots with an additional area of 6 217 m2, which was prevented due to a prompt and efficient investigative activities.
Relevant procedures are being carried out in order to return illegally acquired land plots to state ownership.
Investigation is being continued under the third part of Article 180, second part of Article 362 and Article 341 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 9 years.
