IRI: 22% of respondents named new buses as the major accomplishments of Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze’s Office

According to the recent research of IRI (International Republican Institute), 22% of Tbilisi residents name new buses as the major accomplishments of Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze’s Office. However, 18% - repairing roads, 11% - improving infrastructure, 9% - restoration of squares, 7% - Restoration of Old Tbilisi, 6% - Taxi reform, 4% - restoration of bridges, 2%-2% accounts for restoration of metro, repairing sporting facilities, improving the environment, greening, solving social problems, repairing sewer system.

As for the other main problems, 23% of respondents think that City Hall should take care of Environmental issues, 18% - Infrastructure, 16% - roads, 15% - Construction, 14% - Public transport, 13% - Traffic jams, 11% - Unemployment, 8% - Unsanitary conditions, 7% - high utility taxes, 6% - City green spaces, 6% - Social problems, 4% -Stray dogs, 3%-3% - Caring for the people, Lack of entertainment venues, 2%-2% - Economic problems, Drinking water, Parking, Providing housing for internally displaced people Taxi reform, 1%-1% - low pensions, maintenance of apartment blocks, education.

To remind, the field work was carried out by Institute of Polling & Marketing. The survey was coordinated by Dr. Rasa Alisauskiene of the public and market research company Baltic Surveys/The Gallup Organization on behalf of the International Republican Institute’s Center for Insights in Survey Research. Data was collected throughout Georgia between September 11 and October 14, 2019, through face-to-face interviews at respondents’ homes. The sample consisted of 1,500 permanent residents of Georgia old.
