403.2 tons of vodka, worth US$ 2,596, 300 have been exported from Georgia during Jan-Nov 2020. The volume shrank 4% in comparison with the same period of the prior year. With 42% Israel was the principal exporter of vodka from Georgia during Jan-Nov 2020.

421.1 tons, US$ 3,117,900 of vodka has been exported from Georgia during the first 11 months of 2019. This year, the volume has been reduced by 17.9 tons and amounted to 403.2 tons or US$ 2,596,300.

With 168.6 tons, US$ 981,800 Israel has been the top destination for Georgian vodka exporters during the current year.  It is noteworthy, that while the total volume of vodka export has shown a slight drop this year, the share to Israel maintained a growth trend since the volume of export to Israel last year was 118.6 tons, US$ 710,600.

As the top exporter, Israel has been followed by Armenia, in which 37.2 tons or US$ 316, 200 of vodka has been exported. This year export to Armenia has been declined almost twice, as compared to Jan-Nov 2019. A comparably insignificant decline in export has been shown to Azerbaijan this year, which is the third exporter of vodka from Georgia. 30.7 tons or US$ 224, 900 has been exported to Azerbaijan in 2020, down from 31.2 tons, or US$ 212, 500 as of Jan-Nov 2019.

Together with Israel, in which the export this year has grown by 50 tons, the growth trend has been shown in Ukraine – by 14.5 tons, Turkmenistan – 5.1 tons, and Belarus – 1.1 tons.

Pursuant to the latest study of Eurominotor International, Nemiroff UVK remained the overall leader in spirits in total volume terms in 2019, thanks to the leading position of its Nemiroff brand in vodka, which is the dominant category of spirits in Georgia. Aside from its affordable price and long-standing brand presence, wide distribution plays a key role in the success of the brand, which is available even in more remote and rural areas of Georgia.

As the report says, Georgia’s foodservice industry saw strong development over the review period in large part thanks to the rapid rise in tourism, with many restaurants being heavily reliant on tourists for business. As such, the future performance of spirits through the on-trade will be heavily reliant on a rapid return to normality.
