In an interview with The CheckPoints, LELO's Badri Japaridze reflected on the elections processes during coronavirus. He urged society to come out and vote, once again confirming that LELO and its political allies support holding the parliamentary elections by the fixed date.

"We are for holding elections on the thirty-first of October. The only worry we have is that the increasing number of infected people might create an environment where people will be scared to go out and vote. And I think this is something the ruling party wants to see," - he says.

According to Japaridze, the ruling party expects and depends on the low turnout. Therefore, LELO's main goal within the next two weeks is to encourage people to come out and to vote. "Come out and vote because the threats will be much higher if things will not change. If people follow NCDC's recommendations and all the precautionary measures will be taken, the risk of infecting is very low," - he says.

Japaridze states that this is one of the most important elections in Georgian history. He hopes that people will not be scared of the increasing number of covid-19 cases and will come out. " We need to work hard and not to let the ruling party benefit from the low turnout," - he says.
