Levan Koberidze, a member of the Healthcare and Social Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia and a majoritarian MP candidate of the Lelo party in Vake, has issued a special statement addressing Archil Talakvadze and Dimitri Khundadze.

According to Koberidze, it is necessary to consider a public format discussion on whether the elections will threaten the health of the population due to the Covid Pandemic.

"I call on the Speaker of the Parliament, Archil Talakvadze, and the Chairman of the Healthcare Committee, Dimitri Khundadze, to convene an extraordinary sitting of the Parliament with the involvement of infectious disease specialists and other specialists in the field," Koberidze said.

According to him, it is necessary to open a real discussion in an expanded and public format on the issue: how difficult are the prognosis and expectations related to the covid situation and whether the current situation poses a threat to the population's health in the event of elections.

"We, together with the public (in an open and not closed, one-party format, as the Interagency Coordination Council with the Prime Minister is doing today) must discuss the possible postponement of the parliamentary elections due to the dire consequences of the pandemic. I ask my colleagues to forget their narrow political interests connected to the most beneficial timing for holding the elections and act according to the population's best interests"-said Koberidze.
