The Governor of the National Bank of Georgia Koba Gvenetadze declares, that the risk of the region is increased due to the Russia-Ukraine war, but it is still difficult to say what impact this war will have on the regional countries and their foreign inflows.

"At this stage, we can say that the loss in external revenues will be much less compared to the pandemic. As you know, during the pandemic in 2020, Georgia could not receive revenue of about USD 2.9 billion from tourism. It would most likely be a year of record-high incomes for tourism," Gvenetadze said.

In 2020, Georgia received about USD 542 million in revenues from international visitors, while in 2019, revenues from tourism exceeded USD 3.2 billion.
