International logistics company Logistics Solutions plans opening of logistics academy from October 2022. Irakli Tsankashvili, chief executive of the company stated to BM.GE.

According to Tsankashvili, this idea was born in the company back in 2020, however pandemics has hindered realization. However today, in order to cope with the problem of deficit of skilled personnel, company plans to launch pilot project in October this year.

“Human capital is the biggest problem in Georgia, which was the reason why Logistics Solutions decided to open logistics academy. We came to this decision out of problem, as it is extremely difficult to us to hire new employees. We have few openings currently too and can’t find proper candidates. There is lack of experienced professionals. Its enough to look at resumes which we receive to understand that professional level of applicants is very low. This is caused by lack of professional education in our country. Not everybody can be, and even not everybody must be a lawyer or financier with university degree, its not needed by our country. Emphasize shall be made on professional education for technically and technologically skilled people, like engineers, logisticians, procurement professionals, warehouse workers, etc.

Project will start its trial in October and duration of the course will be 3 months. In future this will be full academic 1-year course, with diploma being awarded to its graduates. Some of the will get a job in our company. So we will solve our internal problem and grow up professionals who will raise quality nieveau on the market,” says chief executive officer of Logistics Solutions Irakli Tsankashvili.

According to him, during trial of the project 5 to 10 persons will get learning course free of charge.

Academy will start its operation in full from latest October 2023.

“We have started negotiations with German and Swiss universities, as logistics and procurement learning is on a very high level there. Additionally, our company is member of German Chamber of Commerce, and we wish to collaborate with them during preparation of syllabus and course materials, taking over their experience and knowledge.

Those who wish to study in our academy will have to pass few interviews and in case successfully admitted to classes will be able to get knowledge in process of procurement, logistics – operational processes, moving goods by all modes of transport, customs procedures, they will learn difference between freight forwarding and transportation of goods, later we might add engineering courses as well as courses for professional truck drivers," says Tsankashvili.
