Menabde Winery from Guria region exported its first test batch of Chkhaveri wine to Belgium.

Wines of Menabde Marani have a premium quality and they are presented in the high-price segment in Georgia. Its price in wine shops is GEL 70. The head of the cellar Vakhushti Menabde told BM.GE that Chkhaveri wine was sent to Belgium at this price, but the export value will be determined by demand in the future.

"At the first stage, we sent several hundred bottles of Chkhaveri for export. We will look at the demand. After that, we plan to intensify in the direction of other markets as well," Vakhushti Menabde said, adding that he considers European countries as export markets in the future, but he also interested in the American and Japanese markets.

Vakhushti Menabde manages the agro-tourist object "Menabde Cellar" in the village of Shemokmedi, Ozurgeti Municipality. In addition, he has been producing wine since 2017 from high quality grapes obtained from his own and friends’ vineyards. It is important for the owner of the winery to promote their wine in the local market, so the wine of Menabde Cellar will not be only export-oriented.

"Some winemakers, especially small entrepreneurs, are focused on wine exports, but due to the fact that there is a small amount of wine from Guria and its recognition is less, we aimed to promote it throughout the country. For this reason, if until now the pitcher wine of "Menabde Cellar" could be bought only in the agro-tourist facility of "Menabdi Cellar", today it is presented in the wine shops operating in the Georgian market - "Wine Library", "Wine Merchants", "Collector" and "Wine Exchange".
