Education Minister Mikheil Batiashvili is stepping down, -the Prime Minister announced at the governmental meeting. Giorgi Gakharia made the announcement. According to him, Mikheil Batiashvili has applied for resignation himself.
"First of all, we should thank Mr. Mikheil for his hard work, for starting a systemic and extremely important reform in the education system, and of course, for the successes we had in recent years both in sports and culture.
In addition, I would like to note that working places, education and security. We will make more focus on these three areas still remain as the most important problems in Georgia. Especially education reform requires faster and more effective development and I am confident that colleagues, the team working in the Ministry of Education, will continue to work effectively, "Gakharia said.
Mikheil Batiashvili has been holding the post of Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport since July 2018.
