Economy Minister Natia Turnava met heads of Georgian tourism companies on February 2. After the meeting, Maia Murachashvili, the founder of Iberia Tour Plus, said that they received a framework project from the government on how the Tourism Administration and the Ministry of Economy see tourism recovery.

The founder of Iberia Tour Plus notes, that it is a very positive step that the government has submitted a project frame, which can be adjusted and the travel sector can make amendments.

“It was a direct message - we do not make decisions without you, because the private sector knows how to work well. This was a step forward,” said Maia Murachashvili.

Murachashvili notes, that there are several countries whose citizens are easily admitted due to the high pace of vaccination.

"Flight resumption to such countries as Israel, the Persian Gulf countries and etc. has become a priority. Those counties were our target groups and we always had a high and growing tourist flow”, Murachashvili declares.

According to Murachashvili, travel sector asked to resume flights to Germany, Poland and Ukraine and their offer was taken into account.

The head of the tour company explains that travel companies need a preparation period to communicate with partners.

"Activities will start from the end of March and April. This framework project will be short-term and focused on attracting tourists quickly," she added.
